Once you do this task, you never forget it. It is surprising all the skills that it addresses and how little lines add up to one large picture. We have organized the elements for added success.
1. Find the center of your paper.
2.Pick one element to start with from the chart and place it in the center of your paper. Use a color of choice.
3. Pick another element from the chart and place it (you may use another color to help visual understanding and orientation) all around the first element.
Continue as long as you wish, and get over your fears.
Kids love this, but it looks scary at first. If you are working with a small class here are some tips for success:
Use a dry erase board and write down a chart then draw a few explaining what you are doing and how you are using the chart to help you. Then draw one together as a group.
Let each kid add to it by picking out one element to add at a time and then watch it grow.
This is wonderful for understanding a circle and for organization of visual space and how elements together can make up a whole concept.
