Tongs for learning

  • Kid using tongs to pick up letter toys to match on paper
  • Kid picking up assorted nuts with tongs
  • Picking up floating plastic items in water bin with tongs
  • Pulling pipe cleaner strings from colander
  • Various squishy rubber toys

Tongs are a wonderful way to increase interest, hand strength, proprioceptive feedback, and work on visual-motor skills.
OPTIONS: Try having clients pick up, toast from a toaster, finger foods such as trail mix, pipe cleaner that is stuck in a colander, squishy toys, or fuzz balls from an egg carton. It is all good!
