Inner thigh ROM is often neglected in kids. They don’t have to climb up a wagon or ride a horse to get anywhere, thus, their legs are weaker and often not conditioned with limited range of motion (ROM). Doing this can also be good for sensory system input.
This can affect gait, so keep straddle leg positions in mind.
I had my clients, sit straddling a wall while writing and some kids really struggled with it initially.
OPTIONS: Have kids straddle walk over foam blocks placed on the floor. They can also straddle a chair while working at a table.
