Outcomes for an IEP meeting

Sometimes meetings can loose focus or take more time than is necessary to communicate and discuss what is important in an IEP meeting. By using this format to guide the meeting, everyone can be on the same understanding of what is planned and the goal of the meeting.
Group norms are usually read at the start of the meeting as a way of keeping everyone in a most respectful communication style. Time limits are set so that everyone knows when the meeting needs to end. If all the needed objectives have not been met in that time, another meeting time can be agreed upon for a later date.
