Foot Sliding on Scrap Laminate

  • Stepping on plastic sheet placed on carpet
  • Laminated folder of strings, letters, and shapes

This is usually a hit in the school setting (because scrap laminate is usually thrown out) for occupational and physical therapists. Whether it is used as pretend ice skating or a relay activity across the floor, the scraps of laminate work well. They can also be used for vision therapy (see the picture) and for writing on with dry erase markers.
OPTIONS: If you do not have scrap laminate, you can often use a piece of cardboard, pie pans, and plastic bins depending on your flooring, that clients can stand on and then slide around on.
NOTE: This is how you can teach an elderly person to dry up spills on the floor; using a paper towel.
