Oh ya! Snow is loaded with sensory memories and this can keep kids interest by having them reach inside the bin and pull out items.
SUPPLIES: small rubber erasers or items to be retrieved and
fake snow that can be purchased on line
OPTIONS: =Have clients pull out as many items as they can in a set time frame.
– Have clients pull out only items in a particular category such as only metal, or round items.
– You can substitute the snow with white rice uncooked, popcorn, shredded paper, colored boba, white northern beans uncooked, cold cut up watermelon, and styrofoam peanuts.
– Place items in unusual storage places. You will see visual attention improve.
ST: Have clients pull out items by categories or what you call out (for example, you may ask for a marble, then another item that is made of glass or round).
PT: This can be a challenge for the feet. Let kids see what they can pull out with their toes or with vision occluded while items float on melted snow (water).
